The Story of the Sith Warrior

Think back to when you first watched Star Wars™: A New Hope™ — to the moment when Darth Vader enters the besieged Republic ship, surveying the carnage, single-mindedly hunting his target, Princess Leia. If you were like me, your eyes bulged and you thought, “I wanna be that guy.”

Now, maybe I was alone in that visceral response. Maybe it reveals something disturbing about me, I don’t know. On subsequent screenings, I seem to recall hearing a chorus of hisses and boos when Vader emerges. So maybe most of the Star Wars™ fan community are Luke lovers, or Solo sycophants . But something tells me there are more of me out there. And all these years, like me, you’ve been waiting for the opportunity to express your inner Vader.

Well, I’m here to tell you, our time has come.

Get ready, my friends, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is going to be our coming out party. It’s time to ignite your red lightsaber and grind the galaxy under your steel platform boot.

The Sith Warrior is about domination and control, as he seeks to utterly annihilate his enemies. He or she wields a lightsaber with more devastating effect as the warrior brings ferocity and rage to bear on every strike. The warrior is feared, is a melee master, and can choke you to death without even touching you.

You begin the Sith Warrior story as the apprentice of one of the most powerful Sith Lords in the Empire. Yes, you serve him, as Vader served the Emperor, but he knows that you are at your best and most powerful the more you can flex your muscles. As long as your master’s ultimate directives are met, you are encouraged to entertain your every impulse and do as you please.

Unbound and unleashed on the galaxy, you wage war against the Jedi, relentlessly hunting and neutralizing their most powerful and important players. You can leave an indelible darkness on every planet you visit or find less wanton routes to your goals, as you eliminate rivals, acquire your own minions and build your personal power base.

The enemies of the Sith quickly realize that you are the real threat that cannot be ignored. Other Sith you encounter and confront come to revere and revile you, as much as—if not more than—your master. And eventually, the Emperor himself may take notice of your exploits.

Where is this all leading? That’s up to you. You can serve dutifully and pound away by the letter of your master’s law, or you can risk plotting to someday destroy him and grab his power (as Vader reveals in his plea for Luke to join him). You can even have secret designs to redeem yourself, embrace the light and destabilize the Empire from within.

If this excites you, if you’re like me and already have Darth Vader’s theme music playing in the background of your mind 24-7, then crank up the volume to 11 and point those internal speakers out the window. Don’t get caught up in the debate over who shot first. Don’t be tied down by the Jedi Code. Embrace the darkness within you! Revel in your emotions, grab for glory and bend the galaxy to your will.

Embrace the dark side we must.
Uhum.
For fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to the power of the dark side.
Cool outfits they have.

Always wondered what would happen if yoda became a sith...

Sun, 10/25/2009 - 01:06

Weak sith and the jedi will die!!!!!!!!!!

Sat, 10/24/2009 - 18:26

Is their any crafting in this game? SWG had 1 of the BEST crafting mechnics. I hope this game can at least get somewhat close to that system, if not BETTER.

Sat, 10/24/2009 - 13:50

And I say to you all... "Let the hunt for Power & Annihilation begin!".

Feel no remorse!

The sith are the most bad-***** chars after my believes, so lets start the beating!

I sense great thing's from these magician's at their work.

The Sith will rule in skill and superiority, there will be many
more Jedi than we but for every one of us that fall, ten of them
fall for their lost cause.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 03:51

can you take over the empire as a sith and be the leader of the sith cause thats how they r going to balance the sides out i think, they r going to be a lot more sith than jedi i know that there has to be sum balance, and the only way they can do that is to have civil war with each other for power thats the sith way!!!

I am normally not a story line follower but this game is really changing my mind on that. The amount of information being pumped out by the developers is phenomenal by any standard.

Thu, 10/22/2009 - 18:00

angral was a sith lord not the emperror

Thu, 10/22/2009 - 10:19

It could be possible... but I think you'd have to be a high enough level to kill the "ruler" of the sith, if you are not familiar with him his name is Lord Avgral from the stunning CGI trailer. Unless you're born with epic powers like Darth Revan, or Anakin... It's not a common thing in MMORPG games so we'll have to see.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 18:13

There is no point in civil war when you are at war with your true enemy(the jedi). The way of the sith is not civil war. The only reason the sith fight each other is for power and a sith only strikes when he is sure that he'll win. This game will probably have a level cap way before you reach a level high enough to kill an emperror, that way it fits into star wars lore.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 12:51

I doubt, i have a feeling it will will end up like WoW did, more people on the light side, but more skilled people on the dark side.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 00:59

deerhunterbob,I think that you could buy it off the store like star wars galaxies but I guess they will release in stores 4 months after the game comes out,but does anyone have any ideas?

Tue, 10/20/2009 - 23:45

Is this game going to be one you can buy at the store or is it straight off the internet????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Tue, 10/20/2009 - 18:23

dont the sith kill each other for power how r all these sith going to cope? and can we be the emper of the empire?

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 12:57

I highly doubt you can become empeor, and there wont really be civil wars to gain it, for that has only happened when there was no empeor and no apprentice of the empeor. soo, unless the Pathetic jedi manage to kill the dark lord of the sith, the sith shall be fine.

Tue, 10/20/2009 - 15:39

Fri, 10/16/2009 - 21:40

Cool I definitely will be playing this class first (or possibly the jedi, i just have to see what their gameplay and special powers are like first before i decide). I wonder what the power base it talked about will be like? will it be located on a planet or will u have a rather large space craft available? Either way it looks awesome.

I like the whole plotting to overthrow your master thing. I don't want to be a good guy i just am power hungry. but it depends on the master, but from all the sith masters I've seen they all treat their apprentices like crud.

FOR THE REPUBLIC AND JEDI ORDER

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 13:59

This will be for sure... Soon... Very soon.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 13:50

once again the sith will rule the galaxy.and the republic will lay in ruin.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 13:23

There is no such а force in the galaxy that could match tо the power of the Dark Side.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 12:31

Just thinking about Jedi/Sith, I wonder whether there will be a mechanic for switching sides. After all many of the most prominent Sith in the movies are fallen Jedi, and of course Vadar repents before dying...

Gift.

You know what they say, A bounty hunter obeys the person with the most cash Pure evil or Heroic.

You know what they say, A bounty hunter obeys the person with the most cash Pure evil or Heroic.

Wed, 10/21/2009 - 13:06

i have a feeling it will be like a chain of quests, Like bounty hunter will probably find so good bounty givers in the republic and the sith would redeem themselves. and jedi would see the true power of the dark side! sumglers would start sumgling for the empire and troopers hmm... that's a tough one... ah well i have a feeling every class can change 1 to 2 times.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 14:35

I love that idea. But imagine being a bounty hunter for the sith. You help out the empire because their contracts are lucrative. And then an oportunity comes up to not only criple a sith commander whos trust youve gained in the course of the game, but also to cash in an enourmous 'finders fee' for the commanders head from the republic. Which would give you an opening to join the republic permanently ending your romance with the empire. I'm still talking about long (and probably painful) series of quests ending in a possibility to change sides. Think of it as completing quests for a prestige class(not unlike what was/is present in Lineage 2).

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 14:22

Well I would certanly like to have the chance to change my minde and lest say help the republic as a sith, or to criple a faction in the empire and by doing so helping the republic out. The same with a jedi, to solve a problem just by killing a particular person instead of a long chain quest tha would solve the problem in the typical jedi way. But still such options will not alow a player to change sides, hepling out the republic as a sith will still make you a sith allied to the empire, your choices ware a bit different than those of a typical sith, but still you are a sith in the empire. But the oportunity to make such little choices is an excelente idea.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 14:09

I beg to differ. First of all, from the moment that they anounced the storytelling mechanic BioWare said they will encourage taking compassionate actions as a sith and vice versa. Speculating as usual, but I think that it would be possible to give the player a chance to switch sides at say 2/3 or half way through to top level. A special quest(or series of such) that would enable to change your fate.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 13:47

I think that it will be like in WoW, if you start with a sith in the empire there is no way to change your cless to a jedi or join the republic. The choices you make as a sith may differ, you can handle a situation more drasticly or show more compasion, but still that will not alow you to change your class, the story will go differently, but stil your class will not change nor you alliance to aither republic or empire.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 12:24

This game is gonna be so awesome.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 12:19

its gonna giv the good site a lot of truble alrigth, but im gonna go with the smuggler.

Mon, 10/05/2009 - 11:04

Hmm I won't be suprised if HK-47 comes into this... I mean he survived 'till episode 5 in Star Wars Galaxies, and even after that he didn't die. Wether they create him as an ally or an enemy we'll have to find out.
